Otunba Yomi Ogunnusi, a lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaiye in the House of Representatives has warned detractors circulating evil reports about the health of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to desist from such act because their wishes will not come to pass.
The federal lawmaker spoke with P.M.NEWS at the Agege Stadium in Lagos shortly after the final of the Otunba Yomi Ogunnusi Unity Cup attended by more than 2,000 footbal fans.
Reacting to reports of the illness of the APC national leader circulating in the social media, Otunba Ogunnusi described them as the “wishes of the enemies of progress,” adding that their wishes will never come to pass.
“Asiwaju will surpass his mother in age and no evil will ever befall him because he is a good man. He will live longer than his mother, Insha Allah. The wishes of the enemies of progress will never come to pass. Tinubu comes from a lineage of family with longevity. I mean, he has a gene of people that lived long. His mother, the Late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji lived for 96 years and was strong until her death. So, what are they saying. His detractors are the ones that will die young,” Otunba Ogunnusi posited.
The Ifako-Ijaiye federal legislator expressed disgust at the rumours of the ill-health of the APC leader, saying politicking should not be taken to the extent of wishing political opponents evil.
Ogunnusi who is the Deputy Chairman, Committee on Finance of the House of Representatives, also described Tinubu as the Awolowo of our time, adding that the politician has been spending his time, money and energy to promote develpment in the Yoruba states of the Southwest and Cotonou, Republic of Benin, just like Awolowo did in the first republic.
Ogunnusi added that Tinubu’s detractors were afraid of his influence in the coming elections and doing everything to undermine him.
“But let me tell you, they will fail because Tinubu is set to lead us to victory next year,” he added.
