Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu believes Coach Stephen Keshi needs experienced players like Obafemi Martins in his squad that will confront Sudan in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Agu said that having watched the performance of Martins in Seattle Sounders Football Club in USA, there is nothing wrong if Keshi invites the former Inter Milan star to the national team to fortify the attacking line.

“There is no doubt that Martins is doing well for his club now and he has been scoring goals in the MLS on a regular basis. I see no reason Keshi should not give such an experienced player an opportunity to play for Eagles. This is a national team that must be opened to all players of Nigerian descent,” he said.

Meanwhile Keshi has disclosed that his list of call-ups against Sudan next month will be released next week.

Keshi, who is still without a contract, told AfricanFootball.com: “It’s still too early to come out with a list, but I am working on it, it should be out by next week.”

However, the coach will not say whether he would stay to the squad that fell in Calabar to Congo and drew to South Africa in Cape Town.

“Changes? I am not sure, but we will see how it goes. I think what is most important now is to get our qualifier back on track and we are working towards that,” he said.
