The Kwara State Government said on Friday that it planned to have an Integrated Power Plant to improve on electricity supply in the state.

Mr Tunji Moronfoye, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen in llorin.

He expressed the commitment of the state government to ensuring the provision of stable electricity supply to all parts of the state to bring about more development.

The commissioner disclosed that the state government had also approved the purchase of 100 transformers as a temporary measure to solve the problem of epileptic power supply in different parts of the state.

Moronfoye said that when received, the state’s proposed bond would be used by the government in the actualisation of its ongoing and new projects to further impact positively on the well-being of the people.

On school resumption, he implored the Nigerian Union of Teachers to have a rethink and resume on Monday in the interest of the students.

He said government had taken proactive measures to prevent the spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the state, and urged the union to cooperate with the government.

Moronfoye also urged the people of the state to endeavour to collect their permanent voter cards from INEC office to enable them to exercise their franchise.

The commissioner said the government would improve on its public enlightenment initiative to educate the people on the importance of voter card.
