Man butchers four siblings, slaughters two

A middle-aged man, identified as Mike, has reportedly butchered four children of his neighbour in Okha II community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo state.

Mike was said to have in the evening hours of Wednesday 17 September, hacked two of the children, Favour Oliver, 3, and Destiny Oliver, nine months to death with a machete.

Not done with his thirst for blood, the assailant was said to have attacked two other children of the family, Gift, 7, and Goodness, 5, severing their nose and wrist, respectively before fleeing the scene of crime.

The assailant who lives in the same building with the Olivers, was said to have had a long-standing quarrel with his neighbours before the incident.

At the time of the incident, father of the children identified as Oliver from Enugu state, was said to be away from home, but his wife, Mrs. Chinere Oliver, reportedly fled for her life.

Medical doctors at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where Gift and Goodness Oliver were later rushed for medical attention, described their condition as “stable but critical.”

Though the incident was allegedly reported at the New Etete Police Station, the Edo State Police Command spokesman, Noble Uwoh, declined its knowledge when contacted.

In another incident, a two-year old boy was Wednesday found drowned in a pool of stagnant water in Evboutubu, Egor local government area of Edo State.

Circumstances leading to the death of the child could not be ascertained at press time, but reports had it that the child’s mother, Abies Enyanyor, had left him in her friend’s car last Monday to where she was going to draw debt, but the child was later found dead on Wednesday.
