Teachers in Delta on Thursday pledged to resume in their respective schools on 22 September as directed by the Federal Government.

Mr Jonathan Jemirieyigbe, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Delta chapter, stated this on Thursday in Asaba when he addressed journalists.

Jemirieyigbe said that NUT had resolved that the first week of resumption be used by the teachers for training on Ebola prevention and containment techniques in their various schools.

He said that the second week would be used to prepare the school environment and to put in place all the materials that the government would provide.

Jemirieyigbe stated that teachers have been directed to resume on that day.

However, he said that no child was expected in schools until the trained teachers had trained their counterparts and the school environment had been put in order.

Jemirieyigbe said that since the state government cannot provide boreholes in all the schools in the state, the teachers had resolved that the children should be coming to school with bottled water every day.
