Nigerian state governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will hold a “crucial meeting” in Abuja on 17 September, their chairman and Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Chief Godswill Akpabio said in Abuja today.

The Governors meet under the aegis of PDP Governors Forum. The statement was signed by Mr Anietie Ekong, Special Assistant on Media to the governor.

Though the agenda of the meeting was not released, sources said the forthcoming PDP primaries and its National Convention, among other issues, would be discussed at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the forum has congratulated Gov. Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State on the recent peaceful conduct of local government elections held in the state and which was boycotted by the opposition parties.

The forum said in the statement that it was remarkable that PDP under the leadership of Shema won in all the 34 local government areas and 361 wards in the state.
