Mr Samuel Meshi, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, has debunked the rumour making round that he was planning to resign his appointment to vie for elective position in 2015.
Meshi debunked the allegation on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
He said: “I want to make it clear to the general public that I will not resign in Al-Makura’s administration in order to contest for an elective position.
“Which position are the rumour mongers saying that I am going to contest for?.
“I want to urge the people of the state and other Nigerians to disregard such rumours.
“I will continue to remain focused and mobilse the people for the present administration under Gov. Umaru Al-Makura to succeed.
“My project now is for me to work for the progress of Gov. Al-Makura in order to enable the people of the state to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
“I am waiting and I will continue to wait for my people to call me to contest any elective position, if they wish,” Meshi said
Meshi restated the commitment of his ministry to initiate more cultural policies to promote the cultural interest of the people and attract tourist attractions in the state.
He called on other stakeholders to cooperate with the state government to improve its revenue base through exploitation of the tourism potential of the area.
The commissioner also called on the people to rally round Gov.Al-Makura to enable him to succeed in delivering more the dividends of democracy to them.
Meshi enjoined the people to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
He said: “People should continue to live in peace and be their brothers’ keepers, irrespective of the background.
“it is only when there is peace that speedy development will be achieved in the country.”
