The Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra Command, has taken its safety driving campaign during Ember months to Churches in the state.

The Sector Commander, Mr Sunday Ajayi, gave some road safety tips at the Regained Glory Fire Ministries Church, Amawbia, as part of the exercise on Sunday.

Ajayi said that the command decided to extend the campaign to Churches because most people believed that road crashes during the EMBER months were spiritual.

He urged road users not to believe the myth that evil spirits were at work during the season but understand that there were increased economic activities which often resulted in huge traffic.

“The Ember months (September to December) are here and there are no special evil spirits on the highways but more activities take place and everybody is in a rush; so we need to apply more caution,” he said.

Ajayi also called on them to obey traffic regulations in order to save their lives and other road users.

“Disobedience, not crashes, kills people; good knowledge of driving and road signs are important.

Nwude, who delivered a sermon on the occasion of Father’s Day celebration, quoted Hosea 4:6 saying, “my people are perishing for lack of knowledge”.

He appealed to the public to take advantage of the safety sensitisation campaign in order to avoid road accidents.

The cleric also prayed God to safeguard road users during the season.
