Less than a year after scores of young Turks in the Yoruba sector of the Nigerian film industry gathered to form a new progressive association known as The Golden Movie Ambassadors, TGMA, things are gradually falling apart.

Early this week, Yomi Fabiyi, one of the key founders and Public Relations Officer of the association, surprised everyone as he announced his resignation from the exco led by actor and producer, Saheed Balogun.

Fabiyi, who disclosed his parting of ways with TGMA via his Blackberry Messenger update, claimed personal reasons for quitting.

“I have today resigned my position as PRO of The Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria, copy of my resignation (letter is) with the secretary. Thanks to all members,” Fabiyi stated.

“The national executive of The Golden Movie Ambassadors respects the decision of Ambassador Yomi Fabiyi, accepts his resignation and wishes he continues to spread the light of the Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria even more than he has done in the past…TGMA as a body bears no grudge and will forever be ready to welcome anyone who is qualified to join,” Oyagbola stated.

When P.M.NEWS Entertainment Cafe contacted Fabiyi on the reasons for resigning from a body he laboured with others to birth, he politely declined comments.

He, however, said he remains a member of the association but no longer interested in being an office holder.

But a source, who is also a member of the association, said Fabiyi quit to avoid a clash with Balogun.

According to the source, there are issues of ego and high handedness which many members including Fabiyi could not tolerate. Efforts to reach Balogun for comments proved abortive.
