OAU Matriculates 5,608 Students

It was a glamorous day for the new students at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, as the 2013/2014 students were matriculated into the university in a grand style.

The colourful event which was the 52nd matriculation ceremony of OAU and was well attended by parents, guardian and well-wishers.

P.M.NEWS gathered that 5,608 students were matriculated into the University out of 7,628 that passed the post UTME examination.

Some of the matriculating students expressed their joy to our correspondent on OAU campus during a separate interviews. The fresh students disclosed how happy they are, to be part of the new success train of OAU, Ile-Ife.

Speaking with our correspondent was Adebisi Moyosoreoluwa, a 100-level student of the faculty of Law, who expressed his profound gratitude to Almighty God and his parent for intensive support.

“I count myself lucky to be a student of this great citadel of learning, it’s really a great opportunity. I thank Almighty God for keeping me and also thanks to my parents for their intensive support in my life morally, academically and spiritually and I hope to make them proud.” He expressed.

Mercy Akeju, a 100 level student of Management and Accounting told PM News that she intends to stand out from her colleagues by achieving success.

“As a student of this campus, I understand its not an easy task but I hope to work hard to achieve success. When I mean working hard, I mean attending lectures regularly, doing my assignment and above all, praying hard” she disclosed.

The matriculation ceremony which was held at the University Amphi Theatre was graced by parents of the fresh students.

Mrs Mercy Akinfolajimi, a grandparent to Akinfolajimi Tosin who was admitted into Botany department expressed her Joy on the success of her grand-daughter.
