Policeman fires shots to disrupt NSCDC official’s wedding

A policeman attached to Osun State Police Command allegedly fired live bullets to disrupt a wedding ceremony of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) held  at an event centre situated along West Bye Pass area in Osogbo, Osun State capital, western Nigeria.

One person was reportedly injured during the shooting which occurred at the weekend.

According to reports, pandemonium broke out at the wedding when the policeman suddenly shot in the air.

The development forced many passers-by and residents to scamper for safety to avoid being hit by stray bullets.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Osun Command of the NSCDC, Mr Ayo Olowe, confirmed the incident.

He disclosed that the policeman, after leaving the venue, also went to the state headquarters of the NSCDC and harassed those he found in the premises.

He explained that the father of the groom, who is a Commissioner of Police, subsequently came to the NSCDC headquarters and took the policeman away.

Recently, there was an assassination attempt on NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Ade Abolurin in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, western Nigeria.

Pictures revealed how Abolurin was harassed and how he had to restrain his men when some policemen with the Inspector General of Police Task Force spotting an Anti-Pipeline Vandalism T-Shirt came to Isawo village, Ikorodu while Abolurin and his committee were inspecting compromised areas by vandals. After the incident, the police said it would investigate it but nothing has been heard about it up till today.
