Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa on Tuesday donated N5million for the transportation of Batch ‘B’ 2014 corps members to their primary places of assignment in the State.

He made the donation at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the members at the Magaji Dan-Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation camp, Keffi.

He said the donation was part of the State Government’s commitment to supporting the scheme to transport corps members to their various duty posts.

“I congratulate you, my dear corps members, for the completion of the three weeks mandatory orientation course in this camp.

“I urge you to use the lessons and experiences gained during this orientation to develop yourselves, your host communities, the state and Nigeria at large,” he said.

The governor urged the corps members to see themselves as agents of positive change in the society.

He also advised them to be agents of national unity and initiate projects that would promote peaceful co-existence in their places of primary assignment.

“Do not be a partisan. Discharge your duties without fear or favour. Relate freely with your host communities.”

Al-Makura assured them of adequate security but urged them to be security conscious and to report any security matter to the appropriate authority for necessary action.

He reinstated the state government’s determination to support people-oriented initiatives by corps members for the overall development of the state.

Mr Olabanji Bolanle, Director of NYSC in the state, commended the governor for his untiring support to the scheme and called for its sustenance.

Bolanle urged the corps members to continue to be of good behaviour they exhibited during the orientation.

She called on them to co-exist peacefully with their host communities for the overall development of the state.
