Former EFCC boss Nuhu Ribadu has promised not to disappoint the leadership of the PDP if he emerged as the next Adamawa governor come 11 October.
He made the promise on Monday in Abuja, while submitting his expression of interest and nomination form to contest the forth coming Adamawa governorship election on the platter of PDP.
He submitted his document to the National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha.
“I remain ever grateful, I assure you that I will not disappoint you; I will not let you down on the hope and trust you invested in me,” he said.
Ribadu described the submission of the form as an epoch-making event in his life. He noted that he decided to contest the election because his associates and Adamawa PDP stakeholders convinced him to do so.
“My decision to contest the Adamawa governorship election under the platform of the PDP is a turning point in my life and my career in public service.
“It is however a decision that was informed by my long standing readiness to offer my humble contributions to my society in whatever capacity I find myself,” he said.
He added that the event signified his readiness to tackle the problems that had hindered the progress and development of Adamawa over the years.
The former EFCC boss stressed that he was offering himself to serve to promote the well-being of the people for the overall development of the state.
“The state today is almost bleeding under emergency rule and it is at the bottom of the ladder in terms of physical development and growth.
“There is no sacrifice that is too big to make to redeem our state from years of bad governance.
“I am ready to stake all that I can boast of so that the coming generation can find a place to proudly call home,” he said.
Ribadu added that the era of bad governance and deceit was over in the Adamawa.
He said that if elected, he would ensure that the state resources were used judiciously to ensure effective development of the state and its people.
He further pledged his loyalty and respect to the PDP leadership and thanked his supporters for their support over the years and since he formally defected to the PDP.
Ribadu will hope to edge past contenders like former Military Administrator of Lagos State, retired Brig,-Gen. Buba Marwa and Sen. Abubakar Gire who have also submitted their forms to contest the election under PDP.
The state’s acting Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri; Alhaji Hawwa Tukur, son of the immediate past National Chairman of the PDP, as well as Dr Umar Ardo and Dr Aliu Idi Hong also submitted their forms for the election.
Fourteen aspirants have so far purchased the form at the cost of N10 m each.
