Two spouses of dead victims of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) are confirmed to have been infected by the virus.

Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, Minister of health, confirmed the cases on Friday. Ebola as so far killed five people in Nigeria and over 1000 people globally.

On Thursday 21 August, the minister hinted that Nigeria may still record more cases of Ebola. In a statement issued by Dan Nwomeh, Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the minister he said more cases could still come up among the 189 secondary contacts currently being observed for having physical contacts with the initial 11 people who were infected by the late Liberian American, Patrick Sawyer.
