The Police on Wednesday pledged to collaborate with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to upgrade its 40-bed hospital at Dei Dei police barracks in Abuja.

The acting Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, disclosed this when he visited the barracks and inspected some of its facilities.

“What I know about the hospital so far is that it is a small hospital.

“We will collaborate with the FCDA to expand the hospital to a standard hospital, and we will make it open for members of the public, who we serve, to access,” he said.

Abba assured that all inadequate facilities at the barracks would be identified with a view to address them appropriately.

He said he had visited the senior officers’ quarters in the territory and decided to visit the barracks with over 1,900 housing units, accommodating junior officers.

“I hold the junior officers dearly,” he said, adding that, the force is making plans to provide school for the children of the personnel in the barracks.

NAN reports that the acting inspector-general also inspected a skill acquisition centre in the barracks, a project being undertaken by the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA).

Abba expressed satisfaction with the level of work on the project so far and assured that it would be completed on schedule.
