President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday approved the appointment of Prof. Oshita Oshita as the new Director-General, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Jos.

A statement issued in Abuja by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, IPCR, Sam Abi, said the letter conveying the appointment was signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Ayim Pius.

The statement said the appointment was for a period of four years in the first instance in accordance with the IPCR Establishment Act, 2007.

Accordinng to the statement, Oshita replaces Dr Josph Golwa, whose tenure as director general ended on 24 August.

Oshita was educated at the University of Calabar and the University of Ibadan where he had a doctorate degree in the Philosophy of Social Sciences.

He also holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Bradford, United Kingdom.

Oshita is described as an expert in governance, peace and conflict studies, who had done consultancy work for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva, ECOWAS and US Agency for International Development.

He also served as the Director of Research and Policy analysis at the IPCR, the statement added.

Until his appointment, Oshita was a Study Group Coordinator and Directing Staff at the Institute for Security Studies, lower Usuma Dam, Bwari, Abuja.
