The Delta state Government on Wednesday declared 15 August as public holiday, to enable eligible voters to obtain their Permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) from the officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Ovuozouries Macaulay, in Asaba.

According to the statement, INEC will begin the distribution of PVCs in all the registration points across the state on Friday.

“The holiday will provide the opportunity for persons in the state who registered during the 2011 voter registration to exchange their temporary voter’s card with the PVC”.

The statement also advised persons who had attained age 18 since the last exercise in 2011 to register during the next Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVRs) in the state.

“Those who have not been registered are to register at the designated polling units to enable them to exercise their franchise in the coming elections,” the statement said.

NAN reports that INEC’s continuous voters’ registration will start on August 20 and end on August 25 in the state.
