The police in Osun on Saturday confirmed the arrest and release of some politicians in Odo Otin Local Government Area in connection with the state governorship election.

Shola Babalola, the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 11, Osogbo, said that he could only confirm the arrest of four politicians by security agents during the exercise.

Although he did not give their names, he said two of them had since been released while the others were under interrogation.

Earlier, the All Progressives Congress had raised alarm that masked security operatives were after their members in Odo Otin and other parts of the state. The party said Alhaji Raimi Shitu, Vice Executive Secretary, Odo-Otin Local Government was arrested midnight Saturday.

Security operatives arrested APC spokesman Lai Mohammed and Bola Tinubu’s media aide Sunday Dare on the eve of the election but released them on Saturday, the day of the election.
