Masked soldiers have plagued Osun state threatening to kill members of the All Progressives Congress. Former Commissioner of Tourism and Inter-Governmental Relations in Lagos State, Tokunbo Afikunyomi raised an alarm on his Twitter account. “Masked Soldiers are presently surrounding the House of Mr Isiaka Faramade, the Chairman of Osogbo Local Govt and are threating to kill him,” he wrote.

A source close to the party in Osun told P.M. News that another important member of the party in the state, Prince Gboyega Famodun had to flee his home after spotting masked soldiers. “He was fortunate to have seen them because they came with the intention to kill him. He has since abandoned his home for somewhere no one knows,” the source said.

Similarly, Osun state Commissioner of Agriculture, Festus Agunbiade was reportedly beaten and whisked away by men dressed in military uniform.

Earlier on Friday, heavily armed policemen on Friday raided some hotels in Osogbo, capital of Osun state, demanding from the hoteliers the identities of their lodgers.

The operation was carried out from 6:00 p.m. until late in the night. It was not clear who and what the policemen were looking for, hours to the 9 August governorship election in the state amidst claims that they had been bribed to work for Senator Iyiola Omisore, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

As at the time of filing this report, the policemen were still going from one hotel to another.

In each hotel, the policemen checked the rooms, whether the guests were around or not. They equally harassed both the staff and the management of the hotels they visited.

Among the hotels visited was Hotel the Charity situated at Kobo area of the town.
