Abubakar who was appointed the 16th indigenous IGP in January 2012 to replace Abubakar Ringim will complete 35 years in service on Thursday and is expected to bow out of office, though there have been speculations that he is seeking for a special extension of his tenure.

Indications this morning however are that the President may not be disposed to granting such extension with reports that different stakeholders have already recommended the appointment of Assistant Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba as the new IGP.

P.M.NEWS gathered that barring last minute changes, Abba may therefore be announced as the new IGP by the Presidency.
