The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Tuesday in Ilorin cancelled the Sallah homage he normally paid to the governor of Kwara on the second day of Eid-el-fitr celebration.

The emir told newsmen that he took the decision in view of the numerous attacks that occurred before and during Sallah celebrations in some parts of the country.

The traditional ruler said that such actions were not only condemnable, but also uncharitable.

He noted that the period which was meant to mark the end of the glorious month of Ramadan was now being used to kill innocent people.

“Whatever happens in other states also concerns us as a people and community; we, therefore, pray Allah to restore peace in the country and foster unity among our people,” he said.
