Lateef Ibirogba, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, on Friday called on Lagos residents to take advantage of the state’s flexible housing initiative to own houses.

Ibirogba told NAN that the Lagos Homes Ownership Mortgage Scheme provided residents with the opportunity to own houses irrespective of their social status.

He said that the houses were available in various parts of the state and residents could choose from the various locations depending on their purchasing power.

“The ‘Lagos Homes’ is an affordable system; a mortgage system that will not compel you to buy anything you want to buy with ‘Ghana-must-go’.

“Pay 30 per cent, and pay the rest over a 10-year period. It is affordable; it’s easy for anybody that is interested to own a house.

“So, in terms of affordability, the Lagos Homes is affordable in the sense that it is easier, it is more liberal in meeting up.

“We have made it that houses are everywhere in Lagos. You have to make your choice. So, whatever the choice you make, you would have considered all the factors before you make your choice.”

According to Ibirogba, the project is part of Governor Babatunde Fashola administration’s vision to provide affordable housing for all residents.
