The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, has stated that no economy in the world can stand without entrepreneurs.

Mrs. Oladunjoye, who made this statement at the second Lagos State Enterprise Day held at the NECA house, Ikeja, on Wednesday, noted that the event is being held to emphasise the need for vocational training as a tool for national development.

She argued that while the government has not stopped its provision of white-collar jobs, it is emphasising the essence of vocational trainings as the bedrock of the economy.

“We are in partnership with LASCODA and what we are doing today is to show the students that they can use their hands for many other things apart from just going to school.

The Commissioner further said that the educated students would be granted loans with the help of Micro-finance Banks.

“The government is partnering with Micro-finance Banks to enable our students stand alone after their skill acquisition.

“All we are preaching today is that we should not rely only on academics but to turn our hearts to vocational training as we present some graduands of the Vocational Schools.”
