Nigeria Defence headquarters has confirmed that one of the pilots of Air Force Mi-35 Helicopter which crashed on a training mission earlier reported today, has been recovered alive while the second one as well as the technician on board the 3-member crew flight died in the crash.

In a statement posted on its website, the Defence headquarters however said rescue is still ongoing at the crash site.

Nigeria’s Defence authorities had earlier on Monday afternoon confirmed the crash of a helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force crashed in the South of Bama, Borno state.

In a statement he signed, Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, said the Mi-35 helicopter was on a training mission, and crashed South of Bama, in Borno State, “due to technical fault.”

The General stressed that it has been established that the crash was not attributable to enemy action.
