Police recover 7 stolen vehicles, arrest 26 in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has recovered seven stolen vehicles and arrested 26 suspects for alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping and fraudulent acts.

Parading the suspects on Thursday in Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Indabawa, said all the vehicles were snatched at gun points in different parts of the state.

“On April 17, two of the suspects arrested in a robbery operation confessed to being members of an armed robbery syndicate operating in Ibadan, Oyo and Ogbomoso.

“They claimed to be specialists in snatching expensive cars and selling them to some people in Kano and Kaduna states.

“In view of this, some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad had to travel to Kano and Kaduna to arrest buyers of the stolen cars.

“After due investigation, all the suspects will be charged to court,” he said.

The vehicles recovered include one Toyota Matrix marked LND 86 BD, a Toyota Highlander marked APP 781 AZ and a Honda Odyssey marked APP 264 CQ

The other vehicles are one Toyota Camry marked KMC 61 PW and a Honda Civic registered as FS 631 KJA.
