A High Court in Ahoada, Ahoada East Local Government area of Rivers State, southern Nigeria, was bombed in the early hours of Monday 9 June.

Court files and property worth millions of naira were destroyed but no life was lost.

The bombing of the Ahoada High Court is coming four months after a bomb blast rocked the High Court causing substantial damage to a section of the court.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the explosion occurred in the early hours before the official resumption of the court but just as it was preparing the cases slated for the day.

The explosion may have targeted court records apparently to destroy the records and exhibits.

An eyewitness said the court properties destroyed included electronic gadgets, furniture and the administrative offices of the court.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Tunde Ogunshakin has visited the scene of the explosion to assess the extent of damage but declined to speak with journalists at the scene of the incident.

At the time of filing this report, no group or persons had claimed responsibility.
