Some members of the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Monday slumped at the 12 June Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, during the inauguration of the new executive of the party.

Those who slumped were those who could not find a place to sit inside the auditorium of the Cultural Centre. They were quickly rushed to the hospital.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun blamed the incident on the scorching sun outside the venue.

The auditorium where the inauguration took place was also jam-packed to the extent that the airconditioning system became ineffective.

Amosun confirmed that those affected had been rushed to the hospital.

“We pray that nothing bad happen to them. Henceforth, we will hold our political meetings inside the main bowl. With a crowd like this, we cannot rule this out. I want to apologise to everyone,” he said.

He assured that the party would continue to embrace peace and harmony. “I have tasked the new leadership to ensure that we are one and indivisible family,” Amosun added.

Our correspondent described the crowd as similar to the one that attended the inauguration of the governor at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta on 29 May 2011.

Present at the ceremony were the former Commissioner of Education during Osoba’s administration, Engr. Yomi Ademefun; National Conference member, Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi; Elder statesmen, Bashorun Doja Adewolu and Chief Olu Adebanjo; Chief Dayo Abatan, Otunba Iyabo Omotayo Odunmolorun, Chief Kunle Elegbede amongst others.
