The Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA) on Thursday announced its plans to build a seven-star hotel and a modern shopping mall in the FCT.

President of ABUCCIMA, Solomon Nyagba, made the announcement at a news conference, ahead of the 9th Abuja International Trade Fair, billed to hold from 23 September to 6 October.

Nyagba said that the projects would be the biggest in Abuja.

He said that ABUCCIMA would also build a convention centre and a world-class trade exhibition centre in Abuja.

According to him, the projects will be sited within the 31-hectare Jeremiah Useni International Trade Fair Complex on Airport Road, Abuja.

He said that when completed the complex would not only become a hub of economic activities but also create employment opportunities for many.

“We are partnering with a South African group on the projects.

“The ground-breaking ceremony of the project is expected to hold before the end of this year.

“Due to the strategic location of this complex, we are hoping that when we finish the projects, it will shift focus from the city centre which is becoming choked with economic activities,” he said.

The ABUCCIMA president called for partnership from the public sector, particularly the FCT Administration for the realisation of the project.
