Theft: Musician To Clean Court Premises For 3 Months

For stealing a generator, a musician in Minna, Niger State has been ordered to clean court premises for three months.

The musician, Yusu Abubakar, 28 who pleaded guilty to theft charge was ordered by a magistrates’ court in Minna on Tuesday to clean the court premises as his sentence for the one-count charge of theft filed against him.

Delivering her judgment, Magistrate Mariam King said that if the convict failed to appear everyday to clean the court premises, he will serve additional three months in prison.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Corporal Jubilee Jac told the court that the accused who resides at Sabon Gari Minna was arrested on May 5 after breaking into the house of Mr Mustapha Mohammed where he stole a generator.

He said the accused confessed to committing the crime during police investigation

When the charge was read to the accused person, he pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
