2015 Elections: APC Aspirants Relocate To Epe, Ikorodu

Following the confirmation of the zoning of the 2015 Lagos governorship ticket to Lagos East Senatorial  District by the All Progressives Congress, APC, leadership , some of the governorship hopefuls have started relocating to the zone.

Two of the leading aspirants who are said to have relocated are Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, GOS, whose known political base is Mushin and the current state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat from Ifako-Ijaiye Local Govenrment Area.

While Solomon now claims Ikorodu, Hamzat has pitched his political tent at Epe. Others who have also changed their political base to brighten their 2015 aspiration are former health commissioner, Dr. Leke Pitan, who formally declared his intention to run on Sunday; the Chief of Staff to Govenror Babatunde Fashola, Mr. Lanre Babalola and Tayo Ayinde, a protocol Chief to former Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Others eyeing Governor Fashola’s seat from Lagos East are: Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Dr. Tola Kasali, a former Commissioner for Special Duties (Ibeju-Lekki); Akinwunmi Ambode, a retired Accountant-General of Lagos State, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji (Epe) and a member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Asked why he relocated to Ikorodu, Senator Ganiyu Solomon replied that he never relocated but rather returned to his native home of Ipakodo in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area of the State.

“I am a native of Ipakodo in Ikorodu. That is where my father was born, he only relocated to Mushin on the directives of his leaders in Action Group then. My father was a councilor under the Ikorodu native authority in those days. The records are there.

“My mother, the late Idiat Solomon was also from the Oluwa family in Itumolo near Ipakodo and it is the same Oluwa family of Lagos Island. My maternal grandfather was Ramon Oluwa, so you can see that I am a bonafide son of Ikorodu,” GOS said.

This was confirmed by the chairman Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area, Princes Olajumoke Jimbo-Ademefun who claimed to be a niece to Ganiyu Solomon.

In a reply to a text message sent to Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamsat on why he relocated to Epe, he wrote “migrated? I am not migrating. That is where my mother came from. Thanks”

In a related development, people of Ikorodu were said to have stepped up campaign for one of its indigenes to emerge as the next governor of Lagos, claiming that Epe had once ruled the state through Sir Michael Otedola.

In the case of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos,  almost ten members of the party have expressed their intention to contest for the coveted seat next year.

P.M.NEWS reliably gathered from the party’s secretariat, Ikeja that the party’s standard bearer  in 2011, Dr. Ade Dosunmu has shown interest again, along with Deji Doherty and Owolabi Salis, who contested along with him. Others seeking PDP’s ticket are: Michael Dominic, Dr. Segun Ogundimu, a former Commissioner for Health under military regime and Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a senior lecturer at the University of Lagos.
