APC elects officers in Oyo State

All Progressives Congress (APC) Saturday held a state congress at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasigba, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State where the former Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Chief Akin Oke emerged unopposed as the pioneer state chairman.

The congress was supervised by officers of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Others elected officers in the congress that had no fewer than one thousand, five hundred delegates are: Hon Mojeed Olaoya(secretary) Serah Juwon(,senatorial chairman),Serah Williams(state Woman leader) Alhaj Wahab Olaniji(state assistant welfare officer;Dauda Ajana(senatorial youth leader) and BarristerBosun Oladele(legal officer).

Also in attendance were: Governor Abiola Ajimobi, his Deputy, and Speaker of the state house of Assembly, Hajia Monsurat Sunmonu.

Chairman of the state APC Congress Committee, Engineer Sola Akinwunmi in his speech stated that all unresolved issues pertaining to the ward, local government and state would be handled by the new state executive just elected.

He particularly mentioned Atiba and Oyo West councils where ward and local government congresses were not held and the efforts of Governor Ajimobi to resolve the problems there stressing, “Most of unresolved issues would be taken over by new executive.”

Governor Ajimobi, in his speech shortly after the election, sued for peace among the party members.

“In unity, we shall progress. We have all seen that party affair is not a child’s play. Let us work together in harmony, I enjoin all of us.”
