Election by consensus has yielded good candidates, says APC chief

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe,Alhaji Sani Fema, said the party’s election by consensus in the ward and local government congresses had produced most popular and acceptable officials

Fema said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Monday.

He said efforts were in place to produce the state executive council of the party by consensus.

“We are all putting heads together under the leadership of the state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, to produce, through collective agreement, officials that will lead the party at the state level.

“Stakeholders of the party are all united, with genuine commitment towards putting on board, credible leadership that would promote the party and the members,” he said.APC Logo 2

The chieftain commended Senator Alkali Jajere (APC-Yobe South) for promoting consensus in the senatorial district.

“For the first time under the watchful eyes of Sen. Jajere, party supporters in Yobe South, also known as zone ‘B’ , collectively and peacefully produced ward and local government officials for the party without rancour and bickering.

“Jajere had insisted and guided the party to fair representation, which gave every group in zone B, a sense of belonging in the consensual procedure” Fema said.

He assured that the party would also adopt the consensus system to produce its torch bearers for the 2015 elections.

“In zone B, we have concluded returning Gov. Gaidam, Sen. Jajere and Hon. Ismaila Gadaka (APC-Fune/Fika) federal constituency, as our consensus candidates because of their exemplary and purposeful leadership.

“The stakeholders are also considering others who will be replaced, especially in the state assembly, with more competent hands” he said. (NAN)
