Returning students of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, FUTMINNA, have decried shortage of hostel accommodation and inability to log onto the school’s portal, as some of the challenges they are facing in the institution.

In chats with P.M. NEWS Campus Square, the students noted that they have been deprived of what they referred to as their ‘rights’ since they resumed and want the problems resolved as soon as possible.

Kolawole Stephen, a student of Geography department said: “It was not funny when we could not get accommodation after resuming for the next semester. Returning students have been deprived of their rights, we cannot access the school’s portal anymore. That means that we cannot complete our registration or pay our school fees. I don’t know why the school management is treating us this way,” he lamented.

Also commenting on the issue was Ogunkanmi Olajumoke, a Chemistry student, who noted that their ‘aluta jets’ have not been functioning properly, especially as the students have had to move from their Bosso campus to the main campus.

“Everything has not been well since we resumed and this includes our transport system. Even our semester has been cut short to make up for the lost time due to ASUU strike. We cannot complete our registration as the campus portal has been inaccessible for days now.

“I just hope that students will not have to stay for an extra year with the way things are going now,” she lamented.
