Gov.Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has called on the people not to see the 21 June gubernatorial election in the state as a “do-or-die” affair.
In his Easter message, the governor urged everyone in the state to pray for peace and avoid any act capable of breaching the peace.
Fayemi, who is also the APC governorship candidate, stressed the need for prayers for peace to reign in the state and the country at large.
His political rivals, Ayo Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party and Opeyemi Bamidele of Labour Party also issued similar statements. In separate Easter messages, they called for prayers and urged citizens of Ekiti to embrace peace.
They said that the election was crucial, as such needed collective effort to ensure its peaceful conduct.
They urged the people to shun any act of violence, and also ensure that they obtained their voter cards to enable them exercise their franchise.
