SUG president-elect denies violence in AAU

Contrary to reports making rounds that a student was shot dead during the Students Union Government, SUG, election, held at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, the newly elected president of the union, Michael Oriekose, has denied any act of violence during the election.

Oriekose said that the rumor spread by a certain media outfit had since been quashed by the school authorities, claiming that the election was free and fair.

He also told P.M.NEWS Campus Square that his opponents have congratulated him on his success and they have moved on from the post-election crises. “It is not true that there was violence during the election. The election was free and fair and the school has addressed this issue of misinformation by a particular media house that went to town with the story of a student being shot during the election.

“The election that made me president has been declared the freest election so far in the history of this school. The little hitches which experienced during the election have been settled by the school management.

“My opponents have congratulated me and have all agreed to work with me to make things better. We are yet to resume office because we are yet to elect people to fill other vacant positions and the school management is not through with some other paper works.

He noted that: “If there is anyone who is not pleased with my election, he should do it openly and not take to violence which will drag us backwards. I want my colleagues to support me because it is one thing to win an election and another to lead well. I promise to give it my best shot,” he stated.

Cultists were said to have taken over the SUG election last week Thursday, an incident which reportedly led to the death of an unidentified student of the institution.
