DStv Plans Exciting World Cup Coverage

For a paltry sum of N1,500 Nigerians can watch all the 64 matches of Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup at the comfort of their homes.

DStv says Nigerians irrespective of the platform they are using on its decoders need only to pay N1,500 to watch live matches of the World Cup.

Speaking at the DStv World Cup Press Conference at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island yesterday, General Manager, SuperSport, Felix Awogu said that the South Africa based satellite television service provider has secured the right to screen live all World Cup matches live on DStv, GOtv, adding that Nigerians will have opportunity of enjoying exciting and entertaining programmes live from Brazil.

“We have also planned to bring live to the delight of our viewers off pitch events at the Super Eagles’ camp, while the viewers will enjoy fanfest activities at the World Cup,” he said.

According to him, two dedicated channels will transmit live 24 hours live activities of the World Cup, while the company has received official support to have special crew attach to the Nigerian Super Eagles and the Ghana’s Black Stars in Brazil.

General Manager, Marketing and Sales, MultiChoice, Mr. Martins Mabuto said the compnay has slashed price of their decoder from N27,000 to N15,500 to enable Super Eagles fans and football lovers in general to watch the World Cup with a two month free subscription as part of World Cup promotion for its consumers.

He said Nigerians can also go for a special decoder called Explora which will give the consumers opportunity to record live matches for them to watch later because this Explora is made with the capacity of 200 hours recording.

He disclosed that with the broadcast sponsorship support from Unilever Nigeria Plc and Nigeria Breweries Plc, DStv’s Nigerian viewers are promised not only values for their money, but a superior experience in sports entertainment.
