World Cup: No Good Midfielders In Eagles, Says Akanni

As the countdown to the Brazil World Cup continues, ex-international, Waidi Akanni has described the midfield of the Super Eagles as the weak link in the team.

Akanni urged Coach Stephen Keshi to work on it before the mundial kicks off in June.

The former Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, said he is worried that among the midfielders that the Eagles have, only Lazio of Italy’s Ogenyi Onazi is playing regularly for his club in Itlay’s Serie A.

The former NEPA of Lagos player noted that it is worrisome that the duo of John Mikel Obi of Chelsea FC and his teammate, Victor Moses who is on loan at Liverpool FC, have been playing a bench role which may ruin Nigeria’s fortunes at the World Cup.

Akanni, who also played for Boston Bolts in the United States of America, admitted that the Eagles may struggle against their opponents at the World Cup.
