Actor Chiwetal Ejiofor Storms Lagos For 'Half Of A Yellow Sun'

On Saturday, 12 April, Nigerian-born, British actor, Chiwetal Ejiofor, will be leading galaxy of stars that will be present at the Nigerian premiere of the star studded $10 million movie, Half Of A Yellow Sun.

Chiwetal, Oscar Award nominee and BAFTA winner, played the character of Odenigbo in the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s award-winning novel of the same title.

The 12 Years A Slave star features alongside other Hollywood figures such as Thandie Newton and Anika Noni Rose, as well as Nollywood stars like Genevieve Nnaji, Zack Orji, Wale Ojo, OC Ukeje, Gloria Young, Tina Mba and veteran singer Onyeka Onwenu.

“This is Nigeria’s first movie collaboration with Hollywood. Half Of A Yellow Sun has been a huge success in different parts of the world and it’s time to take hold of our very own as it comes home. The most recent premiere which took place in the UK was sold out and likewise other parts of the country. The theme of the movie is love set during a time of war. It is full of suspense, love, betrayal and a must watch for all,” said a top member of the movie’s crew.

Half Of A Yellow Sun is the first Nigerian movie to get an official screening list at the Toronto Film Festival. The movie, directed by Nigerian playwright, Biyi Bandele, was shot in Tinapa studios and other various locations in Calabar, Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS Entertainment Café learnt that apart from Chiwetal, Genevieve and other notable members of the cast are also expected to strut the red carpet during the premiere over the weekend.

The movie would officially be released in the cinemas across Nigeria on 25 April.
