With 10 days to this year’s West Africa Football Union, WAFU, U-17 Cup, Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets, Emmanuel Amuneke, says he has no team yet for the competition which holds in Togo from 19-27 April.
Amuneke said that in spite of the team’s 2-1 win over Yuguda Boys of Bauchi in a friendly match, they were still a work in progress.
“I am happy with the scoreline today and we thank God, because this kind of game will be very useful to us in testing the players, and because we don’t have a team yet.
“Initially, during the match, they (the Eaglets) were a little bit nervous, which is normal, because they are human beings. But, as the game progressed gradually, they were able to compose themselves.
“So, all what we can do now is to continue building and hopefully when we get to Togo, we can present a team that can compete favourably,’’ Amuneke said.
The match was in preparation for the Golden Eaglets’ appearance at the WAFU tournament.
