Who were the gunmen that kidnapped Italian priests, Giampaolo Marta and Gianantonio Allegri and this 80 year-old Canadian nun in Cameroon early Saturday? The latter is in the country to help improve water supplies and provide medical help to those with HIV and Aids.

Although no group has claimed responsibility, all indicators point to Nigeria’s armed terror group, Boko Haram.

‘Doors were broken towards midnight by unknown people and the religious were taken away. We do not know where they are,’ Bishop Philippe Stevens said.

‘The act is not yet claimed but we imagine who is behind this kidnapping,’ the Bishop, who is based in Maroua where the kidnapping took place, added.

Why all eyes are on Boko Haram is because the group had carried out such cross-border abductions in the past and had threatened to carry its war into the neighbouring country as punishment for meddling in its affairs with Nigeria. Recently, Cameroon arrested two Boko Haram arms dealers and impounded an armoury of the terror group containing 288 rifles, 35 Rocket Propelled Guns as well as 35 locally made IEDs.

Other weapons impounded were Pistols, Mortar Bombs, Sub- machine Guns and various calibers of ammunition.
