The missing Malaysia Airlines jet came down in the Indian Ocean, Prime Minister Najib Razak said Monday, as the airline reportedly told relatives it had been lost and that none on board survived.

“It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean,” Najib told a press conference, citing new satellite information.

Flight MH370 went missing 17 days ago and since then search and rescue efforts by many countries have not been able to locate the aircraft with 239 passengers and crew on board. At least 150 Chinese nationals were on board the ill-fated plane.
