‘Pharmacist’ pope hands out rosaries as spiritual medicine

Published on November 17, 2013 by   ·   10 Comments

Pope Francis on Sunday advised Catholics to take a special dose of spiritual medicine, offering some 20,000 boxes of “mercy” — containing rosary beads — to pilgrims in St Peter’s Square.

“I now want to suggest a medicine. ‘What?’ you ask, ‘the pope is now a pharmacist?'” Francis said, shaking a box resembling a pack of tablets, after reciting the traditional Sunday Angelus prayer from a window overlooking the square.

Labelled “Misericordina, 50 Grammes for the Heart” and emblazoned with an image of the human heart, the box contains 59 threaded rosary beads.

The instructions, provided in several languages, say: “Can be used once a day, but in case of emergency can be taken as much as the soul needs.”

“The dose is the same for adults and children,” it adds.

The unusual medicine box was inspired by followers of Polish nun Mary Faustina Kowalska, who was made a saint in 2000 and is known as the Apostle of Divine Mercy, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.

“Don’t forget to take your medicine, because it is good for the heart, the soul, the whole life,” the pontiff said.

It’s true what pope says, but the problem we Christians(Catholics) including me hav is the weakness of the mind to do this.it pays a lot if we can begin to be serious with it.

    1. ¶ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils

3 Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Nonso,You are certainly a religious incompetent. For your information, the power of prayers is dependent upon our union with Christ.Who can be more united to Christ than Her mother?Read Luke 1 vs 48.If there is any deception in the Christendom,it has originated from with and within Protestantism because it teaches hundreds of conflicting interpretations of Christs teachings and this CAN NOT be called a reformation neither does it add up to a true interpretation of the teachings of Christ.I was born a protestant and I know that Anglicanism does not have the same doctrine with Lutherianism, pentecostalism, methodism etc.The catholic church is the ONLY church that has what others do not have.this is the only church that goes back in history to the time of the apostles.the only church that posseses the invincible unity, intrinsic holiness, indisputable apostolicity and the continual universality. These fours marks make her stoutly unique.
