Teenager, Two Others Docked For Stealing N4.3m Jewellery

Three persons have been arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrate Court, Lagos, western Nigeria, for allegedly stealing jewellery valued at N4.3million.

The prosecution said the jewellery belonged to one Justina Okpoh.

The defendants: Oluchi Nwogu, 18; Onyekachi Godfrey, 37; Yakubu Musa, 34; and others now at large committed the offence on 13th September, 2013 at Road 64, Vac House, 24, Lekki Lagos.

Prosecutor, Inspector Roman Unuigbe, said that the offence committed is punishable under Section 409 Criminal Laws of Lagos 2011.

Unuigbe said the defendants conspired to steal the jewelries.

The trio however pleaded not guilty to the two count charge.

The magistrate, Mrs. Abimbola Komolafe, however granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two sureties.

She adjourned the case to 12 December, 2013.

Yesterday, another Ikeja Magistrate Court demanded a N20,000 bail bond for an artisan charged with stealing N500.
