Enyimba Football Club of Aba and Warri Wolves are ready for a classical final of the in the oldest club championship in the country, Federation Cup coming up this Sunday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The stage is set and the die is cast as football lovers will be treated to exciting football action on display with the two Globacom Premier League sides ready to fight for the ultimate prize.

Management of Warri Wolves, first time finalist is not taking the final cracker with kid gloves. P.M.NEWS Sports gathered that the management has directed fans of the team wishing to storm Lagos from Warri and its environs to report at Warri Township Stadium by 6a.m. on Sunday, where 20 luxurious buses have been positioned to ferry them to and from Lagos.

Etu Moses, the Media Officer of the club stated that the management has also decided to extend the gesture to the Delta chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, by given them one bus, the state’s coaches association will also benefit from the gesture. The club’s jerseys will be offered to the fans coming to Lagos at subsidised rates, while match tickets will also be given for free to fans putting on the club’s jersey at the entrance of the stadium.

“We hope to take over the arena and make the place uncomfortable for Enyimba who are clear favourites as far as this competition is concerned. We want to make this the best Federation Cup final to be watched by Nigerians and we are going to add glamour to it,” Etu said.

One of the Enyimba players, Chimezie Amanfor said his side have put behind them the ugly incident at Kano Pillars as they are looking forward to grabbing their third Cup title at the expense of Warri Wolves.

“We’re battle ready for Warri Wolves on Sunday; the Kano Pillars saga is history as we’re focused on winning the Federation Cup title for the third time.

“Of course, there won’t be a repeat of the 2011 painful loss to Heartland, this is a different brand new Enyimba side who want to ink their names in gold,” said Amanfor.

The women’s finals will also for the first time in the history of the championship holds on the same day, with Rivers Angels taking on Nasawara Queens.

Chairman of Lagos State FA, Seyi Akinwunmi has informed that plans are in full swing to mobilise fans for the grand finale, expressing gratitude to the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola and Commissioner for Sports, Wahid Enitan Oshodi for their support in the hosting of the Federation Cup.

At least 10,000 fans and I.000 security personnel will be mobilised by the state government for the final ceremony, while awards have been lined up for deserving legends of the Federation and some former sports personalities by Governor Fashola.

Enyimba saw off the challenge of the 2012 Federation Cup finalists, Lobi Stars while Wolves overpowered Kano Pillars in the semifinals to pave the way for the epic final.

Wolves are yet to win the Federation Cup title while their opponents have won the title twice in 2005 and 2009.
