A new Niger Delta group, styled as Coalition of Militant Action for the Niger Delta, COMA, has threatened to deal with Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, for not being a political lapdog of President Goodluck Jonathan.
It also urged President Goodluck Jonathan to convene a Sovereign National Conference, within Six months where all ethnic nationalities will renegotiate their existence in Nigeria, should Jonathan want to jettison his re-election bid.

In a statement made available to P.M.NEWS in Port Harcourt Wednesday and signed by one Alaye Teme, it said that in the past few months, weeks and days, the Central Command of the Coalition for Militant Action in the Niger Delta (COMA) has noted with great interest, the plot by a renegade group of Northern Leaders to undermine the Presidency of Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The group said “it has also noted with great dismay the activities of the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi who in a rabid attempt to discredit and disrespect the Presidency has suddenly become a pawn in the chessboard of a power hungry and selfish Northern political bloc who believe that they were born to rule”.

It expressed regrets that Governor Amaechi of Rivers State, a Niger Delta State would have the temerity to use the resources of a Niger Delta State to undermine a Presidency led by a son of the Niger Delta.

“This is a sacrilege that must never be forgotten or forgiven. Appropriate measures will therefore be taken in due course. Certain lessons will have to be taught to a few”.

P.M.NEWs could not confirm the military strength of COMA, or whether it is a mere paper tiger.

COMA said that in line with its mandate not to dwell on politics of the now, its Central Command has decided that if President Jonathan decides not to run for the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015, he must as a matter of urgency, convene a Sovereign National Conference (SNC) so that the various nationalities there were forcefully conscripted into the Nigerian State (by
Imperialist Britain) would be given an opportunity to renegotiate their co-existence within the enterprise called Nigeria.

It alleged that for decades, the Niger Delta has stayed with Northern Nigeria in its pursuit of political leadership. But if the Northern Nigeria cannot afford to stand with the Niger Delta for four more years, then our people must be allowed to peacefully decide if they would like to remain in this contraption called Nigeria.

The restiveness in the Niger Delta quietened down when in June 2009 the late President Musa Yar’Ardua invoked the provisions of Section 175 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and granted amnesty and unconditional pardon to all persons who have directly or indirectly participated in the commission of offences associated with militant activities in the Niger Delta The proclamation lasted for 60 day and elapsed from Sunday, 4th October 2009.

Since then the oil revenue that diminished by more than 25 percent due to militancy has increased, but of recent, oil income has been undermined significantly by increasing sabotage and oil theft.

On its own,the amnesty programme which was implemented by President Jonathan’s administration has turned most ex-militants to billionaires.

However, COMA alleged that the Niger Delta and its resources have made billionaires out of Northern leaders.

Northern leaders and their elites own billion dollar businesses, investments and high yielding oil blocs in the Niger Delta. And that no Niger Deltan has been made a billionaire out of the resources of the North, insisting that a convocation of the sovereign national conference must be done in the next 6 months.

“This is our solemn demand. This demand is final. To show the veracity of this press release, we will make a statement (not words) very soon”,Alaye Teme threatened.
