Okagbare Qualifies For 100m Final

Africa’s fastest woman, and Nigeria’s multiple medal hope, Blessing Okagbare Monday qualified for the Women’s 100m final at the ongoing 14th IAAF World Championships, in Moscow, Russia with a time of 11.08secs.

Octavious Freeman of the United States of America, USA also booked her place in the final with the same time but her reaction time was 0.171 as against Okagbare’s 0.181.

Okagbare’s time is the joint slowest of the finalists.

It was however a sad tale for Okagbare’s compatriot, Gloria Asunmu in Heat Three of the same event as she failed to qualify for the final.
Asunmu returned with a time of 11.45 to place seventh.

The athletes that qualified for the final are: USA’s English Gardener; Alexandria Anderson; Carmelita Jeter and Octavious Freeman.

Others include: Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Kerron Stewart, completing the number is Cote d’Ivoire’s Murielle Ahoure.
