Chocolate City rap star, Ice Prince Zamani said he was shocked when he informed that he had been nominated again this year for the BET Awards after his narrow miss last year.

“I didn’t see it coming. In fact, I could not believe it when I heard I had been nominated again this year for the BET Awards,” said Ice Prince during the BET welcome party organized in his honour by the channel on Friday, 2 August at the VIACOM Office in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.

He stated that after being nominated alongside fellow compatriot, Wizkid and Ghana’s Sarkodie, the duo that jointly won it-last year, he thought that was it for him.

“… So when I heard I had been nominated again this year, I shed tears of joy,” he said.

The rapper, while expressing his gratitude to Africa for recognizing and appreciating his hard work, used the same event to clear the air on where he received his BET Best African Act gong.

“The organizers have already made it known to us that some of the awards will be presented to the winners during rehearsals and my own incidentally fell into those categories. Without disrespect to anybody, the huge Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Awards won by Drake was also presented backstage and no fuss at all about it,” Ice Prince told P.M.NEWS Showbiz Trends.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday 6 August, Ice Prince was in Johannesburg as a celebrity guest at the Big Brother The Chase. He was in the house to hangout and engage the housemates on the topic of extreme poverty and the role of the AU in helping to end it on the continent. His visit was part of the eight-year celebration of Africa Union with One Organization campaign against extreme poverty.
