Eto’o Dares Musa, Others Ahead Russian Cup Final

Anzhi Makahchkala captain Samuel Eto’o has seen his team lose out to Ahmed Musa’s CSKA Moscow in the race for the Russian League title but the Cameroon international says he is optimistic his side will beat the Moscow-based side to the Russian Cup this weekend .

Big spenders, Anzhi finished third on the log in the just concluded season in Russia and for Eto’o winning the Russian Cup will add to the club’s joy.

“I’m really pleased with this season and finishing third in the league is not bad outing,” the 32-year-old striker told Sport-Express daily on Tuesday.

“I also hope we (Anzhi) will have more reasons for celebration after the Russian Cup final this weekend. I believe we are capable of winning this trophy.”

On Saturday Anzhi will take on newly-crowned champions CSKA Moscow in the Russian Cup final at the Ahmad arena in the Chechen capital Grozny.

The final game accounts for Musa’s unavailability for Super Eagles of Nigeria’s international friendly against Mexico on Friday in Houston, USA. He had been excused to join the Eagles in Frankfurt, Germany after they return from the Mexico friendly.
