Nigerian League: Warri Wolves Sack players

Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, side, Warri Wolves have sacked some players who are termed to be unproductive and also issued a warning to others to sit up or be booted out.

Media Officer of the club, Etu Moses, said in a statement that three players; Omo Johnson, who was recruited from Akwa United at the beginning of the season, Simone Badmus and Ebule Jonathan have been dropped from the team.

On the other hand, Austin Amutu, Dauda Eboh, John Agbawu and Oboh Solomon have been issued with letters warning them to sit up or face the same music.

“We have looked at the performance of the players and we felt there is need to drop some to pave way for those that we are bringing in to fortify the team.

“As a result, we have dropped Omo Johnson, Simone Badmus and Ebule Johnson. We have also issued the following players warning letters for them to sit up or be sack.

“The players are Amutu Austin, Dauda Eboh, Oboh Solomon and John Agbawu,” he said.

Etu also revealed that all the players have been advised to put in their best to reposition the club, adding that the players have promised to reciprocate the good gesture of the owner, Government of Delta State.

“We have told all the players to focus on positioning the club where they belong. They have no reason not to do so.

“We do not owe any bonus; salaries have been paid up to date, while a percentage of their sign on fees have also been paid.

“They have no reason not to perform and any one of them found wanting will be shown the exit door,” he said.

Wolves are playing at home against Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt in one of Sunday’s NPFL fixtures.
