Omotola makes TIME magazine's 100 World icons list

Nollywood Screen goddess Omotola Jalade- Ekeinde, 34, has notched another feat on the international stage, making the 2013 Time 100 world’s Icon List, as one of the most influential people in the world.

On the same honors list with her are Beyonce, Kate Middleton, Michele Obama, Justin Timberlake, the Chinese tennis star, Li Na.

Previous honorees were President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Angelina Jolie. And in this year’s edition, President Obama was recognised as one of the world’s most influential leaders, while Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z was recognised as a titan.

In a press statement released by the magazine, Omotola was described as Africa’s leading lady of showbiz.

Omotola has received dozens of accolades, however, being noted on the TIME 100 not only catapults her superstardom but also reinforces the African film industry as a global powerhouse. Omotola’s influence has transcended the African continent thanks to her stellar award-winning performances, respected humanitarian efforts, and being coined “The African Magic” by international media outlets alike,” the statement reads.

Michael Djaba of I Factory Live & leading African entertainment provider OH BOX remarks: “Omotola epitomizes the 21st century African woman and after producing her successful reality show, Omotola: The Real Me, it’s with great joy we congratulate her being recognized as one of the most influential people in the world. She has so much more to come.”

Since the news broke, the curvy actress’ twitter handle and facebook page have been buzzing with congratulatory messages from across the world.

Chukie Edozien ‏@Chukie_lynxxx tweeted: “Big shouts to @Realomosexy for making the Times100 MostInfluential People InTheWorld Icon List Thats a Big Deal! Africa Rising.”

In celebration of the honor, Omotola has been invited to New York City for the TIME 100 Gala on April 23, and will be interacting with other honorees such as Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, and Steven Spielberg.
